A ribbon mixer, sometimes called a ribbon blender, is a horizontal trough fitted with a double-helix agitator — two opposing ribbons that move materials both radially and laterally within the mixing chamber. As the inner ribbon moves material outward and the outer ribbon moves it inward, the entire batch circulates continuously, creating a uniform mix in remarkably short time.
